Some Worrisome Mommies

Last weekend, it was Parent Teachers meeting in school. Our son is in UKG now and he enjoys going to school. Of course he is a bit of the active sort and sometimes quite restless, leaving his school work untidy. Yet, we are quite happy the way he has adjusted to the new school, new friends and new teaching environment. In a nutshell, we exactly know his strengths and shortcomings and thus guessed what the teacher would say about him.
But there were some worrisome mommies and daddies who felt that learning is everything. They were bothered about kid's handwriting, memory power, comprehension skills, and opened up a whole world of unnecessary matters. Only a few asked about child’s behaviour with peers, likes in school, energy level in class and similar stuff which really matter the growth of kid as a dutiful citizen. It seemed as if, more than the strength of their own little ones they were worried about their minor mistakes, which are quite usual for the age.

Of course, you cannot expect a 5-year old to write like a 15 year old. Neither could he comprehend matter as fast as a grown up.  We ourselves make so many mistakes in lives. How foolish is it to blame the little ones for their meagre mistakes. I really wish if the there is a parenting school for such over concerned parents. Sigh!

Having said all these, sometimes I myself lose temper on my son when he throws tantrums! Amen!

My Little Buddies in Kolkata

Last Saturday, we had gone out and Veeran bought me something very special - a bunch of plants that could be the best buddies for our stay here. I call them buddies because I feel connected to them. Mornings when I wake up, the first thing I check is that how far they've grown- are there any new buds, branches, small leaves and all. I especially like it when I see something growing, be a blog or a blossom.

Well, out of the pretty good nursery, I picked up Tulasi, Thechi, curry leaf, some indoor plants and a few 12 month flowering ones. In our little garden in Dhaka, we had grown other sort of plants like litchi, berry, papaya and lime. In fact we had bought flowering plants there but in some time it got infested with some pest which did spread fast and dried up all the plants. So I started putting the seeds of veggies and fruits (that got consumed at home) in the empty pots. Soon they blossomed and tiny leaves started coming of, which later matured into decent saplings.

When you sow a seed or plant a sapling, and if you take care of it properly it grows in a week, returning joy to you. Hope someday in near future, our decent balcony here also will flourish with more floras. And I really hope I get to own some huge area of fertile land and cultivate every sort of veggies and fruits there :-).

Happy Gardening guys! Yes it indeed keeps your mind relaxed throughout the day.

Friends and Friendships are sweet: You wont turn diabetic no matter how much you take!

Today early morning my best friend called. It was almost more than a year that we spoke. Meanwhile, I was trying to be busy with my own slice of life whereas, she was busy mending her life between a steady job and the newborn baby along with a bit elder one around!

What is surprising with the call is that both of us never felt that we were speaking after such a long time. She talked as if I'm there next door. Same with me too. I spoke to her with my heart poured out. Both of us, now busy with our own little space in this universe, got back to the old golden days in those miniscule precious moments.  And what to say, She made my day!!! Thanks Thendi! (Yes, I do use offensive languages with those people, whom I am really close to)

If the friendship is genuine, you can't hang up the call no matter how busy you are. And I remember having a handful of good friends whom I thought will keep in touch forever. But like the big continent drifts, once you start moving away it is hard to pull things back.

So let's treat this as a new beginning and try to get things in the place where they were. I'm sure the new additions will fit well in the jigsaw puzzle.

"Yaaron dosti badi hi haseen hai
Yeh na ho to kya phir
Bolo yeh zindagi hai

Koi to ho raazdaar
Begaraj tera ho yaar
Koi to ho raazdaar"

Thanks to K.K for this wonderful song! I try to wake up with this song everyday!! Yes that is my alarm :D!

Take Care,
Durga

Have a good day dear bloggers!

Blogging was something quite close to my heart when I was young. But as and when my life started sailing through rough seas, focus shifted and blogging slipped out of me. Thinking of starting a blog energizes me. Yet, the thought that will I be able to do justice with it, takes me aback. Now, I've got the confidence, and therefore here I am. Again with the same old title "Peeping into My Mind".

Well to expand the 'me' here: Myself Durga R Warrier - A married woman from Kerala, the place where God has invested a lot in real estate! A passionate programmer who turned to a dedicated housewife and a devotional mom.

Currently my interest pertains to finance, cooking and a whole lot of ideas that could make me a self employed housewife. So when I peep into my mind most of the stuff will relate to these.

If you have read till now, please pass on a comment! Yes comments do motivate me!

Have a good day dear bloggers!

Cya,
Durga
