Last Friday night was quite horror some. It was almost half past eleven and
we were about to sleep. Me and my mom were chatting up on old stuff and Veeran
and Kunhunni were off to sleep. Our 4 month old little guy was put to sleep
under a dim light.
Once we reached the bed room we saw the little guy sleeping yet quite
disturbed. He was rubbing his ears as if due to a mosquito bite. I switched on
the light to apply baby lotion to soothe the irritation. But shockingly it was
not a single mosquito bite, but appeared as if a swarm of mosquitoes had bitten
him.
His ears had turned red and big. Forehead had a big red lump and hives all
over the body. Also rashes and raised
skin throughout the little guy. He was looking like a different person
altogether. It was building up while we were watching. I was so frightened and
we did not know what to do.
I woke Veeran up. When he saw he realised it was serious and so we rushed to
the emergency wing of the nearest hospital. The nurse checked his blood pressure,
heart rate and all. And we waited for the doctor. It appeared as if he is
taking too long to come, thanks to our anxiety.
Once the doctor came, he checked him and said some allergic reaction has
taken place. He asked if the baby is taking the feed properly. I said yes and
then he gave a dose of an antihistamine. Soon our little one started recovering
fast. And we returned home by half past midnight. For us, doctor appeared none
less than an angel.
There is no profession more serene and dedicated than that of a physician. And it seems they never complain of lost sleep
or high work pressure. Doctor profession is far more strenuous than any other
one, for they are answerable for a life than a machine.
Every time I make a visit to a doctor, all the anxieties and fear within
gets burst up when she says it is all normal. For me doctors are the real
angels on earth! Now I know why every parent wishes to have a doctor in the
family :-).
